A Good Day

You wake up after a restful night’s sleep to the sound of chirping birds. Your bedroom is cool and dark, and your house is surrounded by nature - forests, lakes, and the sea are all just a few moments away. The living room is clean and uncluttered, with plants that blend nicely with the garden outside. Beautiful works of art are tastefully placed throughout the living room and corridors.

Your mind is at peace and calm. You have no distractions or annoyances, and you don’t feel the need to be anywhere or do anything. Your diary is clear and you have no pressing tasks for the day. You sit in the garden with a coffee, enjoying the connection to nature. You gaze at the cloudy sky and the trees on the horizon, feeling a cool breeze pass through you. Each day you sit outside, you notice new things you hadn’t noticed before. Physically, you are in excellent shape and are able to lead an active lifestyle. Depending on how you feel, you may go for a run, swim, or bike ride, or play a round of golf. If the weather is good, you might spend some time sailing or kitesurfing.

You are surrounded by a loving wife and a happy family. Your house is full of good moods, laughter, and love, and people feel the positive energy as soon as they walk through the front door. The dog is the icing on the cake.

A large part of your day is spent in your study, which has a beautiful library and a large, minimalistic wooden table. In this “workshop,” you find yourself in a state of flow or trance as you read, write, study, and sometimes draw or create. You are pursuing your goal of leading a polymathic life, spending quality time with philosophy and science, two subjects that particularly appeal to you. The more you delve into these subjects, the more wisdom you find about yourself and the world. It’s a never-ending journey that keeps your mind fresh.

Sometimes, the ideas you come up with in the workshop are implemented in one of your creative projects, such as a start-up you are working on or a new investment. These activities feel like play to you but appear like work to others. You live well below your means and have learned that material possessions do not add depth to your life. A healthy body, a calm and curious mind, and a house full of love are things that money cannot buy. Instead, you find that the real joy in life comes from savoring the simple pleasures that are all around you in abundance. You realize that the force that makes all of this joy possible is present in every living being, and this fills you with a constant, stable happiness that you can sustain no matter what life throws your way.

In the evening, you enjoy a tasty meal with friends and family, all of whom live nearby. The fireplace burns low as the guests begin to leave. Someone strums a guitar in the corner, playing “Hotel California” by The Eagles. You retire to the bedroom and fall asleep almost immediately. The morning birds are asleep, but the crickets outside are excitedly rubbing their legs, wishing you a good night in their own way.
